Hello Ladies and Gentlemen,

Before the essence of my post I will provide you with a little bit of background to myself!

I'm fairly new to fishing the SE QLD area, having mainly stuck to the basic species for 2 years. Last summer I made the decision to chase something more exciting the red devils! I have put in alot of time and effort looking for likely spots and I have hit many great looking Mangrove Jack spots with a variety of baits lures and techniques but have come up empty handed!

There is alot of good info on this site and i particularly appreciated a post by "the gecko", however i have tried to put all of that into practice and still seem to end up without luck. On a few occasions I have had some great hits but the confidence isn't quite there!

I am fairly sure I'm doing the right thing but would appreciate any sort of assistance! I don't mind giving out a spot on my boat either if anyone is kind enough to give a keen angler a helping hand!

Thanks!:)

In most cases avoid an incoming tide if you are fishing conventionally for jacks with either baits or lures. Jacks love living in the mangroves in a few inches of water esp at night.the moment the tide starts to drop though they drop into the channels and feed on everything washing back into the channel.
