Hi all,

Can anyone recommend where/who I should take an Abu Garcia Ambassador 6500 for a service and new drag?

Also - since the drag seems buggered - any tips/suggestions/mods I should consider before having it repaired?

Hey Mate,
The beauty of the Abu Ambassadors has got to be their simplicity. If any reel is a candidate for DIY it is these. I recently gave my 15yr old Abu a makeover - my first attempt at tinkering with a reel. It is not too hard and there are plenty of tips on the net. I went with new ceramic bearings, new carbon matrix drag washers, and sanded down (lapped) the stainess washers. Turned out well and won me biggest trevor in a comp this year. Piece of piss - Get the schematic off the net and have a crack yourself!
