Shimano Rod

Hi, I have the chance to get a new shimano nexave rod 2 - 4kg, 7 ft long to use for soft plastics. Would this rod be ok for soft plastics for flathead and whiting etc. The reason I am thinking of this rod is becuase it is $55.00 and I think they retail for about $120.00.

$55 isn't a bad price... I've seen them as low as $30 though, but not recently.
