Mate, Ive been night fishing a while here in Italy. Dont worry about the lack of reflection at night and think of the sound your lures make: depending on tides, poppers, stick baits, pencil baits and propellers will break the water surface and spread all around a hell of interesting vibes.
Other top issue: contrast. During full moon a black lure would get more accurate bites. Or, at least, thats what Ive experienced here with sea bass, cuda and bluefish.

Hi Salty, not a dumb question at all in fact it's a damn good question.
When it comes to trolling or casting lures for flathead they work a treat at night, flathead after dark are much more aggressive and therefore will attack lures quiet well.
Trolling becomes a bit more difficult after dark, you have to feel your lure is working properly rather than seeing it working though the rod tip. cheers wayne.

I've used the Gulp 7" and Atomic 6" Shad's at night with great success. Especially when the moon is bright and straight above. The dark soft plastic tends to create a silouette as it sinks and usually gets hit on the way down. The glow in the dark Shads also work well. Try a few out and see how you go.

Yeah i have caught fish at night on lure, i don't use lures at night very often though, probably because i can't see where i'm flicking it.
