Hi Guys, some of you will know I am a newby to plastics and have been asking around for a good rod and reel for flatty's and KG Whiting using plastics, I have decided on a Shimano Raider 681 with a Shimano Sedona 2500FD.
So I am starting to think about the tackle side of things now, I will spool it with some 8lb nitlon braid, then probably a 10lb leader.
My questions are what knot to use to connect the nitlon to the leader, also is there a clip I can use to connect the leader to the jighead, or will I have to tie it all the time if I want to change jighead sizes?
If I have to tie it what knot would you use for leader to jighead?
Thanks Brock

probably a dozen favorite knots for both ends of your leader, I use a double uni to connect braid to leader, and a simple loop knot (or a uni) to connect jig to leader, never had any drama yet, although I find I hardly use braid anymore.

Brock,
I use an albright not to tie the leader to main line, not the best option I been told but if you can do the bimini thats a gold knot. As for tying to the jighead I just use a blood lock knot and that has never failed. Only thing about the albright is that the tag from the leader points towards the eye's of the rod so after a while it can catch or wear. Thats what I do anyways if your ever stuck the guys at jones's tackle lutwyche are happy to show you a knot or 2.
cheers.

i use a uni to uni on the braid to leader knot so far not a drama in reliability wise.
as for the jig head knot i use a knot that i don't know the name of so i will just tell you how to do it.
tie a granny knot in the leader then run the tag end through the jighead then back through the granny knot, tighten the granny on the tag end about 5-10mm from the jighead then do a half blood knot with the tag end, tighten and its done. so far its the easiest i have found and it has not let me down.

I mainly use 2 knots when fishing plastics. These are both the Albright knot and the Loop knot.
The Albright knot is an easy-to-learn yet strong knot which connects the mainline to the leader. I've used this knot for over a year now and it's not let me down (TOUCHWOOD) - For instructions on how to tie the knot search it either on Google or Youtube.
Now that you've got a mainline to leader knot you should focus on a jighead connecting knot. The easiest in my opinion is the Loop knot, this knot is extremely strong and is also yet to let me down (TOUCHWOOD) - For instructions on how to tie this knot search it on either Google or Youtube.
Good luck learning and tying knots.
Thanks Tom
