I made a video of our Amberjack jigging session from Aug 1st. Caught 5 all up and got 4 fights on film. It's a 10 minute epic but some good battles.

Hey Phantomboy, the 2 rigs we used that caught the Ambo's were as follows.
1. Expensive rig - Daiwa Saltiga 6500 Ex Reel with a Carpenter OH55XH Rod. I think it was spooled with 80lb braid and 100lb leader doubled with a bimini twist. The lure was a 320gram Jigs Ace knife jig, Dorado Glow.
2. Cheap Rig - Shimano Baitrunner 6500 Reel with a Wilson Live Fibre 8 to 15 kg rod. Reel spooled with 50lb braid and 60lb Black Magic Tough Trace leader. Lure was a 300gram Williamson Knife Jig in the Blue/Silver colour with assist hook.
I have just setup a new jigging rig with a Shimano Spheros 18000FB reel and a Vfox B-Blade 27kg 5.5' one pice rod. Reel has 80lb braid and 100lb leader. Used it on Friday but only scored a couple of Pearl Perch. The spheros is way better than the Baitrunner though as it has 20kg of drag which is needed for the big boys.
I will PM you regarding a deckie spot some time.
Hey Cobia Kid....Amberjack go well on the plate. They are a 3/5 star eating fish. As long as they are bled straight away and put on ice, then nicely trimmed before cooking they are very nice. Similar to Kingies and Cobia.

Nice Vid Dave.
I just realized the 1st August was the day I went out to the cape, 1st trip there as the skipper instead of deckie. Your footage brings back memories - similar conditions which were fishable but a little sloppy, jigging for AJs and Kingies.
I'll keep any ear out for you next time, is your boat callsign Goldfinch?

Hey Scalem,
It was a little sloppy for the first half of the day. Was a great session we had on the low tide in the middle of the day. My callsign is Classic600 as I haven't named my boat yet.
See you out there
Dave
