I have pretty much set my heart on getting one of the new Saltist lever drag reels in a size 30. I would be interested to hear from anyone with any first hand experience with the reels but realise as they are pretty new that it is highly unlikely.

I have decided I will most probably purchase from the US as the price I was quoted locally is a fair bit more expensive than buying O/S. I will still call around to a few tackle stores & see what sort of deal they will do for me as I've only been to one so far. So my second question is, can anyone recommend me a decent online tackle store from the US that has reasonable shipping rates.

If anyone is interested in a review I found, the link is below

**edit** Just found a decent deal locally so will probably go that way.

The tackle world store in Mackay showed me one of these reels on Saturday. I may wait until December for the 40. They certainly look the goods for a lightweight jigging reel with 10kg of drag (off the shelf).

I was pretty shocked on how small they were. Looks like it will be the new trend with Shimano bringing out a similar "small" lever drag designed to run braid. The 30 suits me just fine as I only plan on running a max of 40lb braid. The 30 has the following line capacities for people who are interested - 380 yds./40 lb., 280 yds./50 lb which is more than enough for me.

Best price I have found so far in Australia is $379 which is a sh1t load cheaper than what I found today at one of the tackle stores in Brissy.

I just ordered one from the US for a recent swains trip. Got shipped off today so I can't wait to see how it performs.

So what size did you get & what rod are you matching it too?

Niz189 I am getting a 30 sized single speed version. I am nt quite sure on the rod yet, three choices T-Curve deep jig 200, daiwa monster mesh or I am also thinking of matching it upto a silstar blue crystal jig rod. The reel will be mainly used for bottom bashing, with some light trolling and jigging as well.
