Hi All,
Walked into Doug Burts Tackle World to have a really good look at one of the Shimano Raider Snapper rods. The one I was looking at seemed perfect for what I want. I then asked the salesperson what was similar, as a comparison, and he was showing me an Avaya rod (7' 8kg spin, lure weight up to 40g). Certainly looked the part, but I can't find any info on them.
So, I'm tossing up between the Avaya and the Shimano Raider Snapper Spin. The Avaya is a little more price wise, but looks that bit 'fancier'. Just can't find anything out about them.
Other than being made in China (and what isn't in that price range), does any body know anything about them?
Cheers!

Avaya are tackelworlds own brand. Just been released a few weeks ago, so you wont find any info on them.

Thanks to all!
I asked a few questions, and ended up buying it.
Apparently it is Tackle Worlds own brand, designed by Doug Burt.
I'll take some pics tomorrow in the light, but the blank is supposedly 36T carbon (whatever that means?) with Pacific Bay guides.
It's about the same length and line class as a Berkley Dropshot of mine, but seems to weigh a bit less.
Seeing as though it's still a budget rod (as is the Raider I was initially interested in), if I'm not happy with it after a couple of months, I'll give it to my son and buy the Raider anyway.....
Figured it was worth a shot at that price.
Cheers!

Here are the pics....
Gave it a run today, nothing outstanding, just a few (just) undersize squire. Felt good, cast well. It feels nice and light, but still feels to have a decent amount of pulling power... But that still needs to be tested.

hey damned67
just become a member today .
and noticed your article on avaya rods,i recently just purchased a avaya 30kg jigging outfit with a shimano spheros 18000 reel with 80lb braid from dave buttfield,,,ST MARYS TACKLEWORLD,,as far as price compared with shimano, there wasn,t much difference.but as you say it is really light in weight.
and i would recommend them to anyone...not much result in big fish yet though,,,have caught a lot of 2-3kg snapper off long reef...so far so good
