Hi Team,

I want to replace my stock windscreen on my 1989 Haines SLR with something more user friendly and safer.

Currently, this windscreen is your classic old fashion runabout/skiboat type that lays on an acute angle and is designed to accommodate driver and passenger sitting on their low profile old fashion box molded seats.

I have since extracted these box seats and installed gas pedestal seats.

The windscreen is glass (I think) and it's leading edge is at a dangerous angle where it's top face protrudes at eye level and can cause some real serious damage if boat stops suddenly and/or we lurch forward by rocking waves, etc..

Basically, I want to replace it with something ergonomic, smooth and can keep out spray/wind...... photos to come.

I am wanting your ideas/recommendations...

maybe i can leave the windscreen off altogether and fill the space of the bow rail up with canvas that takes the hit of spray/splash, etc....?

Why don't you make the qarter pannels longer? this way you can still use the front windscreen but it will be more vertical and you won't fall that far forward.
I wouldn't say the qarters would cost you that much.

Easy to fix; just move the seats and wheel and throttle back a foot.

Problem solved. ;)

Fit a grab rail inside and at the top of the screen so you have that to hold onto and something round to hit if you run aground at high speed (with the new motor fitted;D )

Gees with all the stuff your doing to the boat you sure don't need any other hobbies.

What motor are you putting on? See you have all the instruments out ready for the change over!:o

Cheers

good ideas spiro and chimo - thanks.

quarter panel extension is a great idea. This would mean I need to move the windscreen forward to meet up with the extended length of quarter panels..The base of the front windscreen are currently angled to meet with the contour of it's existing mount area. how would I mount the fronts in their new position?

Chimo - no way will i consider relocating seats and throttle - thanks anyway :-) i have considered bar at top but mounting areas are very limited...

All - I had a look at this setup last night in attached photo - your thoughts on this setup for the windscreen? What is the name of this windscreen setup?

the instruments are in storage - out of harms way and looters' eyes :-)

new motor - very tempting.....some good options out there. your recs for my 5.4m deep vee 600kg dry weight hull?
