Nothing is impossible. Would have liked to see a pic of it to clarify species. Have seen one taken just off hutchies a month or so ago, in the middle of the day. I will get he pic off a mate to post up here.

Greg

PS....I wouldnt be pinning my hopes of it being the start of a new bay fishery...they are a deepwater species.

i have spoken to my mate again and he definitely saw a swordfish come out of a fishermans net. It is a surprising catch in the bay so i thought i would let everyone know. my mate didnt know if the fish was kept or not. im not sure if he got the boat mark but i wouldnt imagine netters can keep swordfish!!!!!

if they are at hutchies they would at least make it into the northern bay as well, especially on a big flooding tide.

i believe it to be true ... the pro fisherman is a regular customer of mine and told me yesterday of his catch... he was amazed to see one in the bay and yes indeed on the wynnum foreshore.

i couldn't believe it when he told me.

cheers

I knew it!! the rumour mill has come through again!!

i got spooled the other night at the Darcy light so it was probably a swordfish. i didnt know what it was at the time but i would say that is what it would have been.

I handed the boat mark over to DPI as i dont think these guys should be keeping fish like this, rather it should be released. Dpi confirmed my suspishuns that N6?? fishermen cant keep swordfish.

i hope the netters dont get approved for a swordfish fishery in the bay else this great fishery could be ruined, especially if the swordfish nursery areas are targetted. I would imagine overseas markets would love fish like these

thanks guys!!
