Hi all

Anyone got any info on transom specs?

Being my first ever boat build.

I need to start building the 2 transoms on my Plate Cat and have contacted Honda,Suzuki and Evinrude in an attempt to get some Transom specs/requirements for their motors in the 115-140 Hp range.

I cant believe that they don't get back .

With the recession I would have thought they would be jumping out of trees for the business.

Thanks in advance

Cheers

G'day,

They might not be that desperate. Try Mercury at the US website.

I recall finding all sorts of stuff on engine mounting drawings and angles (that I didn't understand) that you could download. I think it was intended for Mercury dealers fitting engines to anything - minimum standards and all that.

Might be useless, but give it a whirl.

There is a jig any marine shop should have that has the mounting holes in it - maby see if you can get the measurements off it?

Have a go at this,

Also Tohatsu.com.au has some dimensions.

Depends on what you mean by "Transom Specs"

If you mean, mounting details such as transom angle, mounting holes and transom height etc, then that info is easily obtained with a phonecall to your engine supplier or on the web as seen above.

If you mean specifications and details on how to reinforce your transom and the internals to hold it together, then you must determine this yourself or find someone to design this part for you to suit YOUR boat.

Make sense?

Mate thats exactly what I was after!

I want to make sure that the stiffeners and the anti-crush tubes are in the right places before I close up the transom, as I didnt recieve any of this information or any reinforcing materials in the Kit.

Also would the holes for a 115 Yamaha be in the same place a s say a 115 Suzi or honda?.

Thanks Heaps.
