Left the ramp at about 11.00am for an afternoon of a bit of fishing but also to sound and try and find a couple of spots not yet discovered.....the water was crystal clear and Mark (aka BenDover) wanted to have a look at the Coochie reefs.....one drift with no luck....I was keen to head to Harries due to the low wind which would make the trip a lot more comfortable....got to Harries and there was two other boats there - they were anchored and using bait....sounded around for bit and there were some good shows the sounder.....first drift and Mark lands a 50cm snapper right next to a boat that was using bait....we thought to each other this is pretty good for first drift....a few more drifts with not much luck - a few undersize....a few more boats arrived along with the rain....but eventually I got onto a keeper which went 38cm....not a big one but some nice size fillets for tea....
Decided to head back with a few white peaks appearing on the waves....stopped by the Peel house boat with no luck and then onto South West rocks just on sunset....no luck there either....Mark and I were both happy with the day - and thanks to Mark for letting me have his 50cm snapper for dinner : nothing like fresh snapper fillets with chips & tartare sauce...
Pic attached before filleting....

I caught mine on a Zoom 3inch Baby Bass - 1/8 jig head....
Mark got his on a plastic that was a light brown minnow in colour with gold glitter....I think it was a Powerbait....

I was suprised that there wasn't more boats there.....I have been mid-week before and there has been at least 5-8 other boats there....but I think the weather might have put a few people of...

They where thick out there... Especially for mid day - noon when the sun was high (not the best time to fish) and could see the bottom in 15 metres. Fishing was red hot when we arrived until a few dolphins showed up and started circling and following our boat. The other boats copped it aswell, so all was fair :). The big ones left and the smaller ones pushed up into shallower ground. At 1 stage we had 4 rods going off at once and just felt which 1 was heavier and put the other back in the holder to fight 1 on 1. The small ones where fun but there is nothing like bringing something home to show for your hardwork.
Have definately got to go try some new ground reddy... ;)

Good day and good spots to. I have been out to harry,s lately and boy what a boat yard it can be for the plastic boys who want to drift and there all anchored up in a tight ball on the best reefy bits. I have also had one of those dolphins pull on my snap and finally let go the buggers. The sounder lights up and no hits on most of my trips lately but i know from what i have seen at the ramps there good fish being caught. Cheers boyz.

Definately a good spot DDobson. And definately not so good for the plastics guys when all the boats are lined up like tetris. Is it just me or have the fish smartened up to the plastics. Much fussier. Im finding that I have to use a new plastic that they havent seen before to get my best results. The sounder lit up like you said and I would have to say the odd looking plastic I was using outfished the common plastics 3 or 4 to 1. Same jig head, leader, everything.
Heres a better pic of your fish reddy. Solong as DDobson puts his picture away ;D .
