A bit of action from the 2008 Toyota Fraser Island fishing comp. Camera died before we got stuck into the fish but thought there was enough to keep people amused. Great place, good time, good company. Fair Dinkum fishing

Great video mate, you look after the boys well by letting them have all the fun while you record the action.

Yeah due to the conditions and my goal of getting the boys on to the fish I actually drove most of the time backing up on the fish during that comp. I only fished for about 10 minutes out of the 6 days we fished. My goal is to put the boat onto the fish and If weather and time allows then catching fish myself is a bonus.

Greg

Greg,
What brand and model is the electric reel. I'm doing some research at the moment with the view of picking one up. Mostly for deep water but I guess it would have it's advantages when trying to get reds away from the toothy critters.

Hey Brett it's a Shimano electric that one but unsure on model number... It would be good for deep stuff and the only reason Andy uses that Reel is because he had his arm torn off in a work accident. It was reattached but it has limited movement and use. The only way he has returned to fishing where he now enjoys it is with the electric. From memory it is capable of 28kg of drag and can snap 80lb braid like cotton. Its great to watch the counter when a good fish is on. He picked it up from the Tackle Warehouse for just on a $1000 a year ago.
Cheers

Hey Greg,
Mate that is unreal!
I am telling you mate, you have to make a DVD. I just bought the new Band of Brothers Cooktown DVD and it was the lamest excuse of $30 that I have ever spent.
That is great footage and even better fish. The DVD's are not very dear to make, especially when you consider how many you would sell with the quality of fish you lads get.
My old man has lost most of the movement in his arm due to a cancer operation and as such has not been fishing out the reef in over 5 years.
Next time he comes up here mate, there will be a new reel for him! Its great to see nothing stopping Andy with him smashing those reds!
Unreal work guys!

Nick I have been thinking of doing a DVD for a while now but the logistics and equipment to set myself up and do it has been the only thing to hold me back. I have a fair bit of footage but most of it is dash mounted footage looking out the back of the boat. Its still great stuff but would just be add in footage among the proper DVD set out material... I would love to make a non bull Fair Dinkum DVD and hopefully soon enough I can make it happen.
