I was up there late last week for a look. There is a bit of erosion with some coffee rock exposed between third cutting and Teewah village. The water was still a bit dirty and the swell was a bit larger than I expected - leftover from the strong winds earlier in the week. Travelling the beach was quite easy as the tide was small the day I was there but you wouldn't be able to get along on a big tide. Stick to half tide down and you'll have no trouble. Fishing was a bit difficult with the larger swells and I only managed half a dozen good dart. Tried many holes between third cutting and DI without a single bream or tarwhine, which was a bit of a surprise. With the eroded sand cliffs access to many of the usual camp sites might be a bit difficult also.

Hey Lippa, agree with Freeeedom, I was up there last Wednesday and Thursday with the boat.
You can have a look at the tides to see how big they were but basically south of Red canyon the hightide mark was right up to the edge of the campsites. You can drive along the beach between 1st cutting and Teewah easy 2 hours either side of low tide. The water was dirty even 35km off DI.
basically forget getting around at high tide, try and camp in front or within walking distance of a good gutter and you'll be right.

I had a look at second and third cuttings before using third cutting which was very good. There was a fairly large pool of run-off water at second cutting and I wasn't sure how deep it was. Third cutting is quite narrow so you don't want to meet anyone coming the other way at the single section but the sand was firm and the pool quite shallow.

I haven't been up there for a while but you would think that with what you've got and the rain that's been around, the first cutting would be ok. In the dry I'd take the third cutting. Have towed the camper up there before behind a 91 3l 4Runner through the first. Go hard.

Lippa, I have a 3 litre diesel hilux and towed a seafarer vsea through the first cutting with absolute ease, the boat and stuff weighes nearly 1.5 ton. The second cutting about two months ago had a big hole when I towed the camper through there. First cutting is all good, I'd go that one again.
