View Full Version : In trouble with my Calcutta 400

I've spent the last 5 or six weeks waiting for the new Tewantin boat ramp to be completed so I've been holed up at home servicing and upgrading 7 of my ABU overhead reels and rebuilding a few of my rods. The last reel to service is my Calcutta 400 and after spending all day on it I've made a real mess of servicing it. Anyone know of a good local repair agent that can put the thing back together for me? I give up.:-[

Do you not have the part manual to show what goes where?

Mate, you could take it to either Geoff Clark at Barra Jacks or to Hooked on angling at Tewantin.
Either will get it sorted for you.
Don't you use the Gympie Terrace or Doonella ramps????
Cheers, Jeff.

Yes Dave, I downloaded the schematics for it but the levelwind is a bloody nightmare to reassemble and to top it off the cap from that holds the line pawl in place snapped off when I tightened it. I've obviously stuffed up with the re-assemble as the thumbar release isn't working properly. They're a fantastic reel to use and wonderfully overengineered but not so easy to service. First time I've completely stripped it down in the last 10 or so years that I've owned it.
Jeff, I've given the Gympie boatramp a miss figuring that it's going to be a bit
difficult with extra traffic there. Don't know where the doonella one is but I'd like to know. I don't own a 4wd so I don't want to risk launching and retreiving on sand. Anyway, the last few weeks have given me a chance to tidy up and organise myself.

That's no good mate, must of had to much spinach eh. It's still good to have a go at servicing your reels.
