Fire line is great up to about 14lb. Beyond that I would gop to a true braid rather than a fused GSP. Fireline knots well and its spring seems to help casting on smaller threadlines

Hey mate, I've been using Crystal Fireline for a while and like the 4LB rating but wouldn't go any higher or lower. Fireline tends to be fairly stiff. If I were you I would look at some Stren Microfuse, I love this stuff and will continue using it until I can afford some other brands. Berkley Whiplash is quite good for the heavier gear but once again I try to stick to other brands such as Fins, Tuffline and others.
Thanks Tom

I find Fireline up to 10lbs much less fuss to use than true braids as it does not suffer from tip wrap or wind knots anywhere near as much. That being said though you do get slightly better sensitivity and finesse with true braids with a bit of frustration blended in. I find fishing deeper with true braids is better than with fused lines like fireline.
As Tom said, Microfuse is also a very good fused line well worth considering added that is is more visible to use.

I use fireline in 4-6-8 and 20 lb and have no dramas at all.

Fireline up to 20lb is great stuff,
Trouble free and although a bit stiff out of the box it softens up nicely after a bit of use.

The absence of wind knots makes it better for casting. Better knot strength compared to weaved braids is another plus. On the minus side is it is thicker than most of the weaved braids and more expensive than many of them.

I looked at fireline but prefer my mojiko braid, which is quite thin for the rating. The 50lb is the same thickness as most 20lb mono lines.

Why is fireline even sold above say 20lb these days, their market share must have dropped of heaps with the introduction of the all-round better braids, still hangers on but most of the hangers on have finally moved up this last 6 years or so.
cheers fnq
