Hi All
which boats for me? I come from a big boat back ground in South Africa and mainly big fiberglass Cats 6m+.
Now here in Aus the most popular boat is a monahull either in fiberglass or aluminuim. Now I don’t know much about Aluminum but am quite keen to look at them ,I have been out once one a 560 bar crusher good ride but man they are not nice to look at.
Can any of you give me some names of the more popular makes of fiber glass and aluminum boat around in the 5.5 to 6m range. I want something with a cabin for the wife and kids and all good off shore fishing boat.
Cheers.

how much money do you want to spend and also get a copy of jeff websters second hand boat secrets from newsagents, a good place to start looking
anything with starting with haines in name would be a good start

Looking to buy a new boat Megabite, you'll get a lot of opinions, there is quite a range.......you may like to have a look at the models in your required size range from these two builders, you will have to google typhoon boats australia to get the first link..
As ped says, your budget may be the deciding factor.
Someone is sure to put up a link to Kevlacat.........
There are some very good 'as new second hand' bargains to be had also .........possibly better value than brand new atm, but if you have the cash you are in the driver's seat......
Best of luck and enjoy the process, and the end product!
Cheers.

That was my old boat, sold it in 2007. 580 Breeze with a 130 Honda on it.
Now have an Edencraft 600 offshore (new model released in 2007) with a Honda 225 on it :)

Lets have a chat about it over lunch when you are up here next week Wayne. I know someone who may be interested in selling a 2400 Kevlacat Offshore. You are coming to the ideal place to be able to check out first hand many different boats, and I am sure many Ausfish members in the local area would be only too happy to take you for a fish in their boat to extol its virtues (and you get to sample the local fishing grounds as well). There are some superb plateys made locally, as well as some great glass boats, and a number of reputable dealers in the area for other brands as well.
Cheers

Hey Gary
Do you find the Edencraft a better boat than he Hains?

Look forward to it Wayne. I also know a couple of the leading real estate agents in the area as well so can give you a personal intro to the Owners...and they are keen fishos as well. (one of them specialises rentals at the higher end of the scale in the local market - which is nowhere near what you would have been paying in the Sydney market).
Cheers
