with the wind going to blow its ring out all weekend and my son wanting to go crabbin the call was made to try and catch a few muddies landbased...give the oldman a call and told him i was going to hit the rock wall at manly.....he was just as keen as my youngfella....picked the oldman at 5 and headed down which only took 2 minutes as he lives at lota....put the dillies in but was only bout a foot of water over the dillies and you could see the corks still floatin...at 6 went and checked the dillies we got 1 keeper but bout 20 crabs all up in the dillies....then at 7.30 the rain started and the wind blew so we pulled the dillies to get another 2 keepers and about 5 throwbacks....pulled the dillies and went home.ended up with a good feed....used fish frames for bait
cheers rosco

Nice work mate,
We used to catch a lot of muddies that way. As you are aware you don't need much water to catch quality muddies.
This is meant in the nicest possible way, but you'd better off using wet newspaper then mangrove branches to seperate your crabs. The DPI will have your you know whats in a vice if they catch you with them. It's illegal to have mangroves on you even if they were already seperated from a tree.
Great catch again and enjoy the feed

No dramas Rossco,
Ive seen a guy get pinned once for it at the boat ramp. He claimed he didn't know, and the DPI guys response was "you do now"

i think it depends on there mood at the time they check you....only had that 1 little branch and there where broken branches all over the ground down there....felt like 40 knot winds with the rain squalls...like i said they where more interested with the asians down the end

cheers blooey.....where i went is where anyone can go....no secret just drive up the road near the rq pull up and throw your pots or dillies in off the rocks....just have to give it a go...think it will get better in a few days when the water clears a bit ...
