Am I nuts as every one thinks? I'd like to go to the coast tomorrow, will all the rain make it a waste of time, I will be land based any suggestions as to where to try? Think I may have a little cabin fever here!!
Cheers
Margie

Forget the Goldie, head further south to Cabarita Beach/ Hastings Point. I live on the Goldie and haven't caught much over the last couple of weeks. A freind of mine lives near Cabarita, been there 3 times over the last two weeks and caught dinner every time. Don't forget to get a NSW fishing permit if you decide to go. I'm leaving at 4:30am tomorrow morning to get tomorrow nights dinner - Flathead

The beaches are gonna be pretty darn rough all weekend. I stopped by Kirra beach and the Tweed wall on my way to work this morning to see how they were looking after the last few days.....scary looking. I've gone to Brisbane for the weekend :)

I agree. I'm taking 2 x surf rods but they will probably stay in the car. Will be using my light plastics rod in the creek next to Hastings Point using minnows and shads.

Go to the Seaway and spin some slugs, that would be the best option at this present time with all the Baitfish being flushed down to the Mouth for all the predatory fish to ambush on. Good luck!

Thanks Tom

Slugs are metal lures, like spanyid etc, if you do go to the seaway be careful of the waves, news report say's it'll get nasty.

Well its 11.40pm fri and its pissin down at nerang. just looking at the radar and theres plenty of rain on the way also.
But if ya really keen hit the seaway on the run in tide, maybe where the rock wall meets the beach back around in the broadwater. you will still get a wet ass but you will have the wind at your back...

good luck

I think as far as fishing on the Goldie is concerned it will be a good weekend to go to the Timber and Woodwork show at the Ekka Grounds.

Fishing for tailor should be okay in about 4 days if the bloody rain pisses off, with some hight tide flushes it should be good down the seaway

you should get over to the spit along the rock wall on the concretrete platform or adjacent .plenty of large bream into the 40"s getting taken on bait.i was the only one missing out coz i was throwing slugs from 20g to 80g over the pipe not 1 hit.so get down there only!

Thanks,

I heard about that yesterday, near the pipe was it? Is in the seaway side or the jetty side?

What bait and size hook?

when you drive to the end of the road you will see a cleaning table and a shower, the pipe runs directly infront all the way to the northwall. bigger sinkers like no 4, 5 or 6 will help with the current but the lighter you go less chance of snagging.as for baits prawn ,squid or chopped pillie prefered.with your pillies salt them up before you go to dry them up a bit and leave them out in the sun for a while.this will firm them up and last longer on the hook.use 1'os or slightly smaller and long shank are good.if you go at low tide you should climb down to the most furtherst rocks and collect the kunji off them{when its calm enough}the fish go nuts on it.

Thanks for the tip gezzza. I like bream but never caught any for such a long time.

I'll be gearing up for them also.

Cheers, Peter
