Reelax Reef Riggers Outriggers

hi guys just building my boat at the moment and have a set of reelax reef riggers, outriggers, and was just curious to know if it would be a waste of time putting them on my new boat, or can they be used for many other styles of fishing, livebaiting, floating etc, or should i just sell them.

I'd mount them if I were you. You've answered your own question, put them on and see if they're any good for any other fishing. Hows it coming along?

kezza - i thought about it but if i didnt like or use them i would have holes in the cabin,

motors are on, picked it up today next weekend its off to the water for its debut.

deffinately put em on justin. If you are going to do some marlin fishing from the boat they will be worth their weight in gold.

You can use them a lot for bottom fishing as well, set a rod up with a Lucanus jig and set it in one of the outriggers it will move up and down nicely with the motion of the boat. If you like to set a livey out either under a balloon or on the bottom it will keep that line clear of the ones you are actively fishing. Also Marlin, Tuna, Mackerel, Sailfish, did I mention Marlin and to quote Kokomo they look hot.

I don't think Jeff has got a billfish on the troll from his father in laws boat all season. Everything has been on livies. I have caught more on the troll than livies this season. He thinks it is because I am getting my gear out into clear water. You are mad not to put them on.

Justin - just watch where you mount them. I had my mount area reinforced by Col when the boat was built as they can really put some stress on the area. Backing plates to increase the load sharing area may help if you have not had anything done.

Yep , long rigger has been the go to spot all season for me!:D

Also we quite often run our float rig from the rigger whilst bottom bashing during winter. It keeps it out of the way and free deck space for another fisho!;)

thanks guys, i had the walls reinforced when the boat was made with all intentions of putting them on, just wasnt sure weather it would spoil the boat.

Hi Justin.
I spend 95% of my time trolling.
Yes too riggers but I would be putting on a centre rigger also if your setup will allow which is my preffered position.
As my wife Kellie and I fish two up in Tounaments often rules only allow us 2 rods each therefore can only troll 4 instead of our normal 5.
In this case we always drop out the short corner and troll the shotgun, overall my best position in spread.
The best spread position can vary depending on the boat due to the clear lanes (areas of no turbulence) and "maybe" different underwater harmonics from different boats.
The shotgun will normally give you clear water but it is also the Billfish picking off the straggler at the back of the school in this case being the Shotgun.
