Just a quick note I'm heading up to tincan , poona and plan on fishing and crabbing these areas . Hav'nt crabbed there before but I've heard you got to be careful of the ARMY Zones. Plan to fish inside the bar on both sides if weather permits.. Any hints or tips Grateful....;D

Mate the army zones arent really a problem so long as you dont go ashore.
There are a few green zones about to be aware of though. You can get a copy of the zoning map from tin can bay bait & tackle.
Explore the little side creeks of kauri, dont go upstream of the log dump, that is all green zone.

I'm looking at moving to Glenwood, not far from tincan bay(from all reports only 20 mins), in few months, so that will become my new hunting ground. I've never been there before, can you please let me know about the area and let me know how you go?
Cheers

Not completely sure denis but I reckon Tin Can is more than 20 mins from glenwood. More like 40. Have to go through back way to Tin Can Gympie Rd and I reckon it's at least 20 mins from that point to TIn Can. Might be wrong though. And maybe it doesn't matter to you anyway. Good luck with the move. Tin Can is a great spot, and there are some good crabs around there too!

Glenwood to Tin Can is definately more than 20mins, more likely 40-50mins. It's a sale pitch that is full of crap. You'd be flat out doing it that fast on a road bike going alot faster than the limit.
Anyway for the fishing. Hasn't been much around the bar area the last couple of weeks other than toads and small throwbacks from a couple of guys I know that have been down there camping a couple of times. This should change in the coming weeks. Did hear there where spotties being caught outside the bar about 2-3weeks ago.
Tincan has a few ledges around it that tend to fish quite good in winter. Teebar legde is on the right as you head towards fraser from tincan directly across from the mouth of Teebar creek. And teebar creek used to be good for fishing and crabs. There a quite a few rubble and reefie type bottom areas up the inside of the island that have produced reasonable fish over the years but not exactly sure of where they are other than somewhere between the mouth of Kaurrie creek and Fraser.
It's a big area and like most places usually the best fishing is where the least people go.
Also don't rule out fishing the mary river from maryborough down to river heads. Its only about a 25-30minute drive there.
Cheers and good luck

I live halfway between Tin Can and Glenwood and have a mate on Ausfish that live in the Glenwood area. Takes me 20min to get to his place and 20mins to get TCB. If going straight through, you can probably work on 30-35mins. It is on dirt roads half the time, but they are often in better nick than the tar ones. When you move up, give us a PM and we will catch up.
