Thought Id copy this to a new thread so more can share.
This is they way I do Braid bimney twist loops, Never had one fail.
I only make foot long loops,
Make a foot and a half loop in your braid with enough tag end to reach from your lap to your mouth.
Sitting in a chair, Pinch the loop at about a foot and a half with your left hand, And with your right hand proceed to make about 40-45 twist, counting them over.
Keeping your left hand pinched, Cross your legs (man style) and put the loop over your foot.
Stick the tag end in your teeth (head up high as you will need to feed tag end back over the twist)
Now with your right hand force the twist up as close as it will towards your left hand pinch. You should have an inch or so of tight "loaded' twist.
Now Feed the tag end over the twist using your head to keep the tension and keeping the twist tension with your right hand.
Wrap the first half with a fast spiral and the last half with a tight spiral. (Use your head to angle the wrap)
Now once you get to the end of the twist, Pinch that junction with your left hand to hold the knot. Let go the braid from your mouth and spit out the God awful taste.
Now Tie a half hitch with the tag end over ONE side of the loop(Now its locked).
Then tie two or three half hitches with the tag end over the entire loop.
If I make them at home I put a tiny dab of tarzans grip or similar over the the Hitches just to keep them intact.
It sounds like a lot but really quite easy once your shown how.
I use a variation of this for my Fly line backing, The same as above but I make a metre loop then double the whole thing over again and tie another Bimney but this time with TWO tag ends. This gives me four strands of braid to loop over my fly line.
Hope that helps
Mick
