Hey guys, Late notice I know.
Tomorrow im doing the D'Aguilar range tour from the 'Dirty weekends' guide book. This drive goes through the Mt Mee State Forest, starting a Dayboro and finishing at Woodford. If anyone wants to tag along they are most welcome. Total distance is 80klms with 53klms being on unsealed roads.
I've done some research on another 4X4 forum, and have been told that it is not really a challenging drive, with low range only required on one section, but there is a few hills and bumpy sections, and fantastic secenery. If your into hardcore 4WDing this will not be your thing.
Planning on being at Dayboro approx 9:30am, but if anyone is keen reply to this thread or PM me, and we'll make a firm meeting time.
The best (harder) bits of that trip were shut by the parkies approx 8 years ago.
If your version of the book is more than this age the trip notes will be misleading.
Other than that have fun it's a pretty place.

Ha ha, out by a day - took a run through there yesterday for the first time. Went more or less on a whim so didn't have much in the way of maps - is there a map available which details all the tracks and relates to the numbers displayed? I probably missed out on some of the better sections because I stuck mostly to the main tracks or made notes as I went along to allow me to backtrack.
As GBC said, a pretty place even if not exactly challenging driving (well where I went anyway)

Well Marc hope you had fun.
'A' break and ' K ' break are a bit challenging, but doable in the dry.
Some nice viewing areas, bit overall, an easy run.

A couple of years ago I bought paper topo maps of the area in question,we had to add a heap of tracks that werent shown.
Abreak and jacky creek rd are the best known tracks that offer low range activities but there is a lot more if you look. There are still a few tracks I havent looked at yet but I will get around to them.
We will have to orginise another M&G out there soon with a bit more notice.
There are a few tracks in the southern end of the park I would like to look at.
They run west from pegs road south of radio mast.
Cheers Craig

Hey guys, sorry for the late notice but it was a last minute thing.
Was a great drive out there today. Lots of tracks winding on mountain side with steep drop off over one side, which had the missus freaking out a few time. Other parts of the track were very rocky which made me glad I had new tyres. There was lots of hill climbs and decents, which are always the best parts, as well as lots of small creek crossings. The decent to Jacky Creek was quite steep with deep ruts which made it tricky.
The 'A Break' section was definitely the most challenging part of the trip. It's definitely the steepest hill climb i've ever done. Got the heart pumping. Its dam steep an just keeps going up. The pics dont do it justice. I was glad to see the top. No chance I'd make that in wet weather.
Lots of good views over the bay to Moreton Island, and also out to the west. All in all a great drive, most of it quite easy, but then tricky sections pop up to keep you on your toes. The pics are stills taken off the video, which wasnt great cause of the glare on the screen.
Yeh i'll be keen for a meet up soon. Mt Mee or anywhere else. cant do this weekend coming up, but anytime after that i'll be keen as.

I did "A Break" just after a storm had been through and washed it out. Made it even more of a challenge but still got up there. Have the video footage for it too but can't show it here due to some colourful language by the film crew. ::)
