First blackfish session in a while, and I did pretty well.
I was seriously underequipped, because my luderick rod bit the dust a little while back, so I was using a 2500 size spin reel, with a light graphite rod I use for SP's - 3 to 5 kg line class I think.
I had about 7 or 8 hookups total in about an hour, and managed to land 2. I pulled hooks on a few and one cut off on the rocks.
They are seriously fun to catch and I had a hell of a time turning them away from the rocks with the light 6' rod.
The bigger one went like a train and I was sure I'd lost him in the rocks after he peeled off about 5 metres of line in one run. Very lucky.
And I was harrassed by a pelican while cleaning them! The flatty (60cm) was caught on good Friday by my other half (while I scored a donut).
Take it easy.

Is the closest place to BNE the Tweed River for Luderic? and you fish for them with a light green type of sea weed?

Got 'em at the gold coast. They live in pretty much every estuary up to Noosa, including Moreton bay. Have got them at the mouth of Brissy river, too. They come a long way into the estuaries and I've caught them about 6 or 7 kms from the ocean.
You can use cabbage or stringy weed. I prefer cabbage.

Forgot to add. They eat cunjevoi and nippers sometimes - and SP's if you get lucky.

Often get them on nippers ( yabbies ) in ballina around the walls when the water is dirty also around the sea grass beds and deeper channels on the sand flats in any sort of water but more of a bi catch when whiting fishing. Generaly a bigger fish too.

Couple of nice ones there Gorey1

Know of a few luderick caught at Cameron's rocks and breakfast creek. My mate got one on a stealth prawn but others have caught them in cast nets.

Now I am going to hassle Garry Howard for my custom rod. Am determined to get amongst em this season. Crackin the code for them up here has been hard......Blackfish fishermen are better at keeping secrets than bloody ASIO. My favourite target species.
