Hows it going guys
just wondering if anyone knows where i could source a service manual for an 08-09 merc 30hp 2 stroke tiller steer.

For a proper Merc manual... check with your Merc dealer... expect to pay some big bucks... The more generic third party service manuals from Clymer/Seloc etc are probably not as good but are cheaper and can be had from most good chandlery outlets, however, given how new your motor is, they may not have a manual out yet to cover your model.

I've purchased a couple of manuals on eBay over the last couple of years. Yamaha and Honda but I have no record of where from.
They came on CD and it's simply a matter of printing off the pages as required.
I believe they are also available as a download nowadays.

Iv'e also found manuals on ebay. I managed to get an original OMC Evinrude paper/book for about $15 delivered. The CD ones can be hit & miss, with the content having been scanned, some parts aren't readable.
