Bought an FSU 4162/Pacific Composites/Glass rod, set up for an Alvey from a garage sale the other week.
Nice light rod. Good condition.
Any comments on these blanks (10 years old) and the most suitable appliction for a rod like this?
Regards, Rob.

Put it in the garage with your vast array ( way too many ) of ther rods and use the new penn ;D . Seriously though, Bream, Tailor etc etc bait thrower.
Feeling any better ? The bronzies are on the chew at Nth Wall and a good size. To big to bother trying to land but fun anyway.

It'd be good for tailor and bream off the beach and rocks Bob. A 6 inch or 6.5 inch Alvey would be a good match.
Too many rods eh???
How about I drop in to your place the next time I'm going to Iluka and you can offload some to me?? :-/

FSU stands for Fast Surf Taper
4162 is a 4 wrp 162" Blank. Bream and Tailor were the target species.
I have an FSU5162 that I used at Fraser years ago. Very fast action for a glass rod. Light tip strong butt.

Feels like it's going to be my Tailor rod when i want to throw a bait a litle bit further than a gutter.
Very lightweight rod but lots of grunt down below.
Hey Matooty. How did you cut yours off? What length? and how did you put a new reel seat and grip on it? New guides?

I had mine built from the blank up. To cut it down was just a matter of using a set square to make sure the cut was absolutely straight, then wrap around the cut with duct tape to prevent splinters when you cut it with a small hacksaw. Its now about 8''6' give or take. All hardware was brand new.
Put a post up when my mate finished building it.
