Headed out on saturday towards the creek systems between turkey beach and agnes with the old man. Motored up a small creek to set the pots and the abundance of fallen trees had me keen to get the lures out. Spotted a crab under the mangroves and put one pot on the drop off in front of it, it swam off but chances are it would be straight back for the tuna slab bait. Went and set the other pot a bit further up and came back to check the first pot. The buck was straight in and things looked good. As the tide was going out we banked the tinny and proceeded on foot to throw a few plastics around, the big winner was me on the Berkley 3" banana prawn. 5 flathead, about ten moses perch and a spectacular bustoff which lasted all of 3 seconds which i called for a jack.(4.5kg line). Checked the pots again for a couple more crabs and went back to camp for a couple of beers, then scotches and a siesta. Checked the pots again and got a couple more crabs, had a quick fish for nil but seen some bait getting hammered so it was decided first light for a jack. Woke up early and netted some herring, the fishing was slow and the bait eventually died so butterflying them was the only option. I was smashed nearly straight away by a fish heading for the snags in a big way. After a short battle the jack came into veiw and i was stoked. He wasnt big but it topped of the weekend and we came home happy bastards.

Light line i know but good fun. There wasnt enough room to write all the info i wanted to. The saturday sesh was with a 4.5kg flick stick(4.5kg braid,14pound leader). The sunday sesh was a baitcaster with 10kg braid and 30 pound leader(t-curve with diawa luna which i love) Sorry for the confusion. Had sweet chilli crab for lunch today and i think i need to go out again. It was bloody beautiful.

Mate,

Thats as good as it gets, a few beers some rippa muddies and a few good fish to top it off.

The high fliers can have there fine dining and champagne, i'd take your feed anyday.

Great report from up north
