Hi all.
Headed up to Cape York again this year in may, Woohoo!. One thing I have never tried is trolling dead/live baits around.
Does anyone know how to rig a large mullet so it trolls smoothly, is it even possible? I dont have access to gar/herring etc which I believe is the usual preferred trolled baits?

Anyway if anyone knows of a quick easy way to rig up a Mullet for trolling, some tips would be great. Either live or dead.

cheers.

the easiest way to rig a swimming mullet it to run the leader through the centre of head between eyes, from top to bottom put sinker on the line under chin for weight to keep the head down to swim, and run back to leader and crimp off.

get yourself a chin guard, very easy to rig anything on 1.

Yea, try that one, or try the split tail mullet. Same principle, just one more step. Try internet searches for bait rigging a "split-tail mullet".
Just about every predator eats one!

Wolf Herring has a great success rate here in CQ but just one tip to get it swimming spot on is to break its back in a couple of places so to have a natural swimming effect.Hope this helps.Lucky buggar Cape York just one of my Dreams.Cheers
