Hi all, this was my first ever go at fresh water fishing. It is at the cause way at Innamincka SA. These 2 measured 44 and 50cm. A little bit different to my usual fishing trips.
Good fun though.
Oh yeah it was in the Cooper Creek.

Ahhh Rig Dog,
Great place that...you wait until the water settles out there.....the fishing will be spectacular....Am I right in assuming you scooped those fish at the barrage in the photo??
We used to do that out at the weir at Barcaldine many years ago when the alice river was in flood (runs into Barcoo etc)....we used to watch the yellas trying to jump up the spillway, and pick a couple off for a feed, then relocate heaps more on the top side of the weir. Created our own impoundment for the dry period!!. The schrimp swimming around below the weir were phenominal. walkin across the bottom of the spillway was crunch crunch crunch under foot.....billions of them!!
Those western rivers really come alive in the wet....its truley a beautiful sight.
cheers Steve

It is a top spot, lucky I was getting paid to be there :) . We were going down after work every day, either fishing or swimming/tubing.
It wasn't too hot either, so I can see it being another bumper tourist year out there. Plenty of water every where, Coogie and lake eyre are full, Birdsville has just been opened again too. We went the other week and it was still an ocean up that way.

Nice fish. Did any have a label "from the Thompson" on them as we will be going to the Thompson in June to fish for Yellowbelly the normal way.

Don't worry Bros, I only kept the 2 in the picture, we got about 30 and helped them on their way across the cause way.
We tried a few spinners and baits, but only seemed to get bony bream and eels.
I don't recommend fishing this way, unless you like gashes in the arms and legs, it is pretty slippery getting down the cause way. One of the guys fair smacked his head on a rock when he slipped.

Nice yellas. Good way to spend an afternoon after night shift. Catch a few fish and crays devour a carton of coldies.. Hope the split head wasn't a LTI!! Which rig you on?

We are stacked at the moment, so it is a great way to end the day. I am on MB rig 3. How about you? The guy who did his head was a passing trucky.

I think it will be a few floods before they get to the Thompson. I'm hoping there will be a few left there for me for a feed
