i joined this site about 12 months ago to pick up some pointers from fellow fishers and campers and to help improve my fishing knowedge and also help where i can with other people just starting out.....in the last 6-8 weeks it seems that the site has become a open slather on anyone that makes just the slightest mistake out fishin and posts about it or if some1 goes fishing instead of of going to a protest convoy through the city....to me the site has lost what it is all about...helping people out with what you have caught and where....sharing knowledge...making new buddies to fish with.....i have met a few people of here as well as have a few mates who are also involved in this forum as well who wont post anymore as they are sick of people ridiculing them.is a bit of a dampining really....to be honest i think we all need to get the site back where it was 6 months ago......anyway i have said my piece...cheers rosco

Rosco

It’s a shame you feel that way but I cant agree with you. Ok there is some twits on this site along with every other site on the internet but you have to expect that. This is by far the best site I have come across for a number of years and I haven’t seen it go down at all. Like TV, if you don’t like what you see turn it over.

Hey there rossco,
Mate as per the previous posts , there are always going to be people who love to bash everything, but really it is still a site with much to offer (take your recent query about the tray- seems it is a problem a few can sympathise with)
I reckon you should take what good advice comes along and just let the high balls go through to the keeper.
Stick with it , and hope to see many more posts from you in the future.
Cheers , Brendan

Keep at it .

I tend to agree Rosco.... The vast majority of people on her are great, and I really enjoy reading others posts, offering help where I can, and sharing info re/- the sport we all love - but the small minority are more "notable" now.

I remember very recently I posted a reply to a guy who was wondering what species of fish he caught.. I advised what fish I thought it was, posted a reference link, and then another member was calling me a liar (saying I was deluded that I thought (knew) I had caught many of these fish in a certain spot years ago) - even to the extent this narcisistic disturbed person emailed me saying how I wouldnt know what I was talking about, I should sht my mouth, as I was asking "basic questions" in another section about deep sea fishing lol.. I seriously couldnt believe it...

I dont know what the answer is - I guess just have pitty and ignore these minority, dont lower yourself to their level, and carry on....

Ausfish is still the best forum.

Sure there will always be good fishos who choose to leave because they have been offended. That will continue. To survive on a forum, you need to have a thick skin, and not be easily offended.

Just look at the low number of daily posts on other forums, compared to the high level of information available here. So we have to sift thru a few fools now and then, so what? keep a positive attitude and dont let em get you down.

Get rid of all the political garbage and the forum will be back to normal :)

I kind of agree with you there.

First it was the political parties - The Fishing Party V The Australian Fishing & Lifestyle Party. Then it was Catch & Fillet V Catch & Release. Now it is SOBA V the rest of the world.

Where will it all end ::)

Then again people don't have to post about or read things they don't agree with. ;D

Mate, Yes i would be one on your list, in regards to the rally, but when your as passionate about the bay as i am, and having a few rums under the belt, i did sprout off to you about your crabbing expeditions that same day.
I did come across pretty heavy, and apologize for that as its usually not my style.
You did say it was a lost cause re the new zonings, but nothing is a lost cause until you have tried every avenue available.
Enough said

Mate i am new here myself and sometimes find it hard to get a reply to a thread good or bad.

In my first 4 months i have noticed a lot of "political correctness" in a lot of posts though. Sometimes it is good to hear and needs to be said but other times once would be enough instead of banging someones head in over and over. I would prefer to see the first post thanked if you agree with that member instead of everyone saying the same thing. I also do understand that this being a public forum some caution should be used when posting dubious acts as we dont want the wrong message out there for everyone to view.

This forum still has a lot of positives though, i have met 2 members who i have been out for a fish with and have others i would like to in the future as i visit there home turf. I have gained some excellent info on techniques, tackle, rigs and places to fish. These are the things i was hoping to gain when i joined.

Cheers
Scott

i agree rosco, but its not only this forum, the other 2 that i frequent are the same.

ive been on here a year too, i read a hell of a lot but dont post much.

it starts with a little backchat/insults
then the retaliations
then other people get involved
then it follows into other threads.

i really hope this will pass.

opinions differ, so say yours but dont have a go at his.

If you don't like teh way a thread is heading, or a particular post/reply, just click on the report post icon http://www.ausfish.com.au/vforum/images/buttons/report.gif next to the post and if it needs attention we will deal with it.

We do not, and can not, read every post. So if you see a post that needs it, just report it.

its not usually that serious, just sad to see & a PIA to have to read through.

Ausfish isn't as bad as people make it out to be. You can't expect everyone to have nice things to say. If you don't like what someone says or their opinion than move along but I wouldn't go as far as have the attitude that " I'm not posting anymore because I don't like what some people write " I think its a great site and enjoy reading what people contribute.
