Greetings all!

In the search for Jewie lures I have come across some in the local Bait shop and in the Big # that are 'Suspending'.

They look nice.....but how do they fish?

If you dive them down, with a fast retrieve, do they float back to the top or remain where they dove to?

Regards, Rob.

Hi Rob,

A suspending lure should sit at the level it's stopped at and literally be suspended in the water column

Having said that not all lures actually do what it says on the packet and might require "tuning" e.g. More/less weight using different hooks or split rings or lead weights

Hope that helps

Cheers
Tony

Thanks mate! Just what I thought.

Not much good for pulling in to a breakwall then. Don't want the lure diving to 4ft and then snagging the rockd 4ft down but 20ft out from the wall.

It cam also depend on whether the lure is made to suspend in fresh water or salt water. A suspender in the fresh will float in the salt and a suspender in the salt will slowly sink.

Surely you would get some controll with your rod tip.

wind the lure down ( rod tip down) to the depth you want, if you are bumping the bottom too hard... lift your rod tip and the lure should come up a bit.

I think by suspending they mean.. it isn't a floater and it isnt a sinker....it sort of hangs arround...... a bit.

mate you wanna get ya self some halco laser pro's 190mm for jew off break walls you can get them in the 2meter divers and 4meters they float so they are good for cast and retrieve back to the base of the wall (where you get hit most of the time) they have and inbuilt rattle to help the fish key in on your lure expecially on those washy days and the floods right now down your way. also cheaper option and in my opion a better lure for jew are the berkly frenzy lure 2m+ i think they are a great mullet impersonation.

Last thing i want to do is bump anything (apart from a fish) on the North Wall!

Bump and lure is gone!

Samburley, know about those lures. Was interested about these particular lures because they look like Killalures but half the price.
