They are the only Trev to eat in my opinion. I picked up a 9kg model on top of the reef at Musgrave and we ate it along with Trout and Lippers and it held its own

Top effort Rob and I agree with the others as to the eating qualities of the goldens. Very tasty table fish.

Cheers guys! Next one will hit the plate then!

1770 is on the cards but will wait till the water clears a bit. Anyone know if it as dirty as the water further south?

Mate, they are chased heavily on fly around Hervey Bay, I am no expert but they do take a lot on clousers with I think yellow over white being a good colour scheme.

The first and last golden i caught was a stonker,so i thought i would feed the family.when i was filleting the beast i was not too happy with the fillets. They seemed like they might end up tough and dry.Boy was i wrong! It was some of the tastiest fish ive ever had. I sealed the fillets in a pan then placed them in a baking dish, poured a glass of wine over them and liberal amounts of butter.baked in a hot oven for about 7 minutes.yum yum yum.

went for a short dash this morning in the crap weather, through a blade around till it got snipped off lol, bloody mackeral!!
Then i sent a live yellowtail out and the puffer fish killed and ate him! then i got jack of the wind and went home for a coffee!

Hooknose i have some of those cheers, will give it a go whe i get a new cast line.

and that sounds awsome captain jack!!

lol wayno the wind is out of my control!! Caught the trava in the river entrance mate! Havent been to 2 mile yet, waiting for the right weather.

Is 2 mile a decent reef? i went to ryans rock the other day and i found a little lump on the sounder im guessing was the rock? it had no fish around it and the rest of the grounds were level adn fishless not even bait. perhaps my mark was incorrect im not sure btu got the mark from saltiest gps list.

Pete check your ausfish pm box.

Wayno there are blues here at the moment working the entrance, smaller fish arround 8 too 10kg and hard to target as they are moving in and out and vanishing for an hour at a time.

Thanks for that info setthehook both longtails boated last year came from trolling, one was on a maniac the bigger of the series and the other was taken on a 60 gm raider. Wayno

I got one on a xwrap trolling and another on spin then another on a live slimy all within 1km of the entrance, but that was just befor the cyclone. The fish are back in much smaller numbers and not big fish. Cant wait till they thicken up again so iu can throw flys at them!
