Headed down the Tweed today to try a few of my usual spots for a couple of Bream and some Flathead. Late arvo headed to the mouth armed with 6lb braid and 6lb leader and an 1/8th Switchblade in hope of a nice Bream or two or even a Trevally if any were around. Anyway was casting out and jigging it along the bottom when it got smashed and took off, great I thought a Trevally. But after ten minutes hopping back and forth along the rocks I ended up with a just legal Kingie. Pity I was fishing alone as he had a couple of mates with him that would have gone 3-4 kg. Might be pushing the luck with the 6lb gear at that size though.

Nice catch on 6lb mate. Scored a few trevs down there last night , they were feeding on prawns and wouldn't touch anything apart from a prawn imitation. Ben

Good catch Mark, next time you might have to take a landing net. You don't want to lose a decent fish like that down between the rocks :)

Great catch landbased, on that gear - a lot more fun than catching kingies that size in deep water, using your Saltiga 6500 EXP, no doubt! (not that you didn't catch a lot of big ones too)
