Hi Guys - had the itch to fish Coochin Creek on Sunday as it is a pretty spot to fish...

Hit the water about 6:30am rising tide, great conditions. Caught a few bait fish and headed off to hunt for Jacks!

Headed straight to the top of the stream where it splits, perfect conditions, clear & sunny with barely a breeze. Got one early bump on a green prawnstar and one got hit on a livey, then nothing.......

Fished over the top of the tide then headed back downstream to fish the banks for some flatties..... nothing but one at about 10cm!

The mozzies were shocking, the motorbikes loud and the fish elusive!

There was plenty of bait and mullet, but they were pretty relaxed - which is never a good sign!

Coochin is pretty, fun to fish but catchin' is hard!! There was not much boat traffic whic was good.

Just need more practice I suppose!

Cheers,

Hey Paul.
Where abouts did you fish in Coochin?
I was going to go there Saturday arvo, but plans changed. Did you fish near the mouth or up river a bit?
Cheers

I also got my pb Jack at coochin a few years back too, in fact to this day its still my pb at 52cm an a touch over 3kg:)
Keep at it mate while we still got a bit of warm weather, an maybe a few mossie coils burnin here an there might keep the little buggers at bay:)
Anyways good luck for next time, an heres a little pic to keep you inspired;)

Thanks guys - the mozzies were thick!!

I was surprised how busy the camp ground was!

We fished upstream, went up as far as the 2nd fallen tree on the left branch - bit hard to drag a 4.3 Q hornet over that!!

Up the right branch to the power line.

Funny how you don't mind being fishless in a pretty and challenging spot.

I guess that is the only problem with Jack fishing - not much by-catch!

Oh for a quiet spot that no-one else knows about!!

Snagking - you are right about the housework!!

This week - the bay calls - in a mates boat - the best kind!

Cheers,
