Humminbird have just released an important software upgrade on their site.

Software update is now available for consumers to download from
hummminbird.com for these models:

768, 787c2, 787c2i, 788c, 788ci, 797c2, 797c2i, 798c, 798ci

917, 955, 957, 997

1155, 1157, 1197



This software update (v4.510) adds these features:

Supports the XM NavWeather accessory.

Supports AIS receivers. (1100 models only)

Adds new 2D sonar processing techniques, including the ablity to turn
off TVG.

Adds SI Image Enhancement features. (SI models only) *

Supports operation of the CannonLink accessory across an InterLink
accessory. *

Modifies the Depth Offset menu item to shift the sonar image, not
just the digital depth. *

Expands Water Type selections to include deep and shallow salt water.

Adds Waypoint Decluttering control. *

Adds Demonstration mode menu item to disable point-of-sale mode when
using a transducer with no thermistor.

Fixes the color of shoreline construction on Navionics charts.

It was only released last night (US)

Update availability depends on your model and you must be registered. (as far as I know)

I downloadad and installed it this morning on my 727. Some good improvements.

Its preety easy. Need a formatted SD card, Put it in card reader and plug into computor, down load update to card, pull out and put SD card into sounder and select load update. Message on screen appears telling you not to touch anything until it has finished. I have the 1197 SI and updated a programe in December. I was surprised how easy it was.

John how good is the side imageimageing on the 727
I have the same sounder whith the gps & have been thinking
on getting the sideimageing transdoucer for mine .
any info much appreciated

The 727 is what they call a WideSide scan sonar. I have the same type, older model with wide side transducer on a 12ft tinny. It does give some info on what is beside you but is far from a side imaging sounder. I tried it for a while and gave up and just use the downlooking view.

Have a look at pages 15 and 16 of the 727 manual and compare it with the following

I'd save the money for a side imaging, it's a different display completely. You'll be amazed comparing the two.

I had to resubmitt my serial number again and it came straight up the new software download they must have lost something if someone else is having the same problem try doing what i done maybe
