As some will know I have just have had a week back home at Chinderah. I have been looking forward to hitting the rock again.
We flew into Brisvagas on the Monday arvo and were home relaxing by late afternoon. My normal fishing buddy had a family drama and could not fish for the rest of the week.
I was up bright eyed and keen as mustard by 2.30 am NSW time, so after grabbing a coffee from the BP where I used to work and having a yarn I was on the rocks by about 415am.
The first lure to come out of the tackle box was a RMG (is there any other type). The lure I picked was one I picked up,up here in Darwin for just $2. as it was old stock and would you believe it is in my all-time favour colour. I was a little worried as it was dead low tide and the last time I fished there it was sanded up big time, but it has all dug out. After about 20 mins. I was on and dropped all in one go, but after an other 15 - 20 mins I was on again this time it was a solid hook up. After a battle that lasted goodness knows how long I was able to swim the fish to the back of the rocks where I had planned to gaff and land the fish. Right where is the gaff? ... bugger just out of reach oh well just feed out some line and grab it .... done first shot ....missed and an other and an other 5 gaff shots and it just kept bouncing off:-[:-[.blood mate not keeping the gaff sharp. toss the gaff aside with the #### and think ok 30lb leader I'' just lift with the leader, slide hand down to leader and take weight, lift till fish is just 1/2 out of the water and snap :o:o:o:o. So here the fish is just floating in the waves and bouncing off the rocks totally spent and the gaff tossed aside, toss the rod and grab the gaff. first shot missed again second one just like the first and with panic setting in I see the Jew give a bit of a kick oh no it's recovering aarrr ..... as the fish was sliding out of reach ( mind you it is still DARK STILL) I go for one last shot and with a bit of skill and a whole lot of luck the gaff sank into the shoulder and a nice Jew of around 10kg mark was landed. So up the bag and get out the happy snap taker knowing that I had just put new batteries into the camera I was really ticked off to find that the camera had died on the trip down so I had to wait till I got home to take a photo on the Mob.
After sunrise I fished for tailor without any luck till I got a small Samson of about 40cm on a spinner that put up a fantastic fight and was released as I did know the legal size limit of the till later ( 0 cm in NSW ) and the was it for the day.
The next day I did not get a hit but on the Thursday morning I managed to get 3 good sized tailor but no more Jew hit

Then the weather closed in and I was not able to fish the rocks again till I came back to Darwin
The gear that I used was a 12' J/Walker water rat, a eBay special (bluewater fishing) spinning reel load with e Bay 20lb braid and a RMG lure
Sorry about the long read
