because you said flatty's,tailor and samon id say something in the 2-4kg maybe even a 3-5kg. i have a 2-4kg 7' 2" shimano raider 1pce by ian miller rods about $100-120 in price. and have caught 6-7 kg tuna on my mates 3-5kg raider with a 2500 size reel aswell. i have a 2500shimano symetre on my 2-4kg and its a perfect match. if price isnt an issue maybe even start looking at the t-curve tournament series by shimano, there around the $230 mark. i have 1 in a baitcaster and it feels reel nice. they have many models around that weight/length also. but if you bath in $100bills then you can start looking at the g-loomis and other high end rods aswell!!. just a few ideas!!
cheers

I've got my 2500 Symetre FJ on a old model 2-4kg Starlo Stix for my light work, it's caught some nice Tuna and Queenies to 6kg. The newer models would be even better and if your on a budget they will only set you back $80 or so?
