Hi All,

I am considering upgrading my sounder. I currently have a Lowrance X52 on my 4.2m Allycraft Rhino. My question is does Lowrance make a colour sounder around the $500-600mark, that would be suitable?. I mainly fish areas like Coochiemudlo, Macleay, Peel, Banana banks, and the southern bay.

I know this may be considered overkil, for the areas I fish, but I thought it might be nice to treat myself.

P.S. i''ve also read that Garmin make a good unit, and curious if anyone knows about these also.

Thanks for your input.
Scott

Garmin, over Lowrance in my opinion, although I am a Furuno man, over both of those, but price may be the issue..Have a squiz at the Furuno 620

Scott Ashe,

Technically from a resolution and processing stand point the Lowrance units are considerably better, Eagle Fishfinders are also made by lowrance but are the lower end of the lowrance range, but may be within your budget and suit the type of fishing you do.

there is nothing wrong with the furuno sounders either, just more expensive.
