Just got back from Baffle Creek and after hearing all the stories of the fishing and rock bars and sand bars, sand bars, sand bars oh my god i'm going to have nightmares about those damn sand bars.:o:o:o:'(:'(:'( we were not disappointed.

I took a new okuma reel loaded with 20 pound braid, well I handed that to the wife and said see how that goes, Well she baits up with a strip of mullet and puts it a couple of feet from the mangroves while i try to look tough with the daughters pink stick.Well lets just say Jacks 1 Okuma 0 Thats all it took 1 freight train and the okuma is left with this awful grinding noise and not much else.
We landed plenty of undersize fish and got absolutely smashed by a handful of good size fish. But we had plenty of fun and looking forward to assult number 2.

What model okuma reel were you using??

Ive got an Epix EFS30 thats caught dozens of good to big jacks and a few decent jew and a few dozen good sized snapps and still running as good as new.

Baffle is a good creek for sand bars aye gotta love them or learn to hate the place there is no other option.

Unlucky about the jack mate. Okumas have a lifetime warranty against such things you know. I have a T 20L that I use when fishing up north with 50lb braid on shallow reef and twice I have ended up with the dreaded grinding feeling. Both times I have approached Okuma, they have fixed it free of charge in pretty quick time and have said they will do it again if it happens again.

The rep I spoke to both times agreed that the line should break before the reel. I do believe there are better reels on the market, however they do stand by their warranty. If you have a hassle getting it fixed, PM me. But you will need your receipt......

Nice part of the world is Baffle...
