I used to own a 727 and ordered it with the quad beam when purchased. Worked great, it had all the features of the 737 except it had the plotting GPS.
cheers

How much is the quad beam??
I have a 727 and might give one a try as well.
they looked pretty flash in demo mode.
I have the 777c2 with Quad. At first I thought it wasn't worth it but have played with it more. The quad will not only tell you which way a bait school or fish is going but the slope of the bottom you motor over by the shape of the beam. A thin intense beam means that the bottom is upward sloping and a weaker wide beam is a sloped downward bottom contour.
It was only about $70 extra with the original purchase

I run a 797c2i with side imaging and dual beam. Very good unit, but don't rely on the side imaging in more than 25 metres or so. It really does an excellent job.
Spend a few extra bob and pick up the barometer. It's a handy add on, for sure.
Cheers,

hi,
I have a 787 with quadbeam transducer, and I must say I was very disapointed
with the almost total unavailability of any Quadbeam specific information, that would allow a person to interpret the readout in the Quadbeam mode. It seems to me that it doesn't necessarily represent structure ie trees, and bottom contour as you would think. As a result of the lack of info on how to interpret the readout to make best use of the feature, I personally was dissapointed with the quadbeam feature, and , as a longtime humminbird user, less than happy with Humminbird company.
I still believe however, that if information on the specifics of the quadbeam feature, particularly how to best interpret the readout, was available, that it would be a usefull tool ,partitcularly in shallow ( to 30 ft) water in dams and rivers.
As for the 787 performance overall, I think it is great.

I too am thinking of purchasing a quad beam for my 717 humminbird. Problem is I was quoted $400. anyone interested in selling one??

BLA has them listed for $200, so I think the $400 is a tad on the rip-off side of things.

Thanks for that, Brad. I rang Their Slacks Creek boating warehouse store (closer to my home) I told the person on the phone of your findings. He confirmed it, I have a $200 unit ordered.
:D Must have been some sort of error at BLA end of the phone line.
