2 from 4 yesterday. 2 were hooked while at anchor bottom bashing. 1 from 4 on mackerel plus a pearlie found its way into the fish box and then we trolled up some long tom late in the arvo going for mackerel again.

2 from 9 on mackerel today on minnows.

These are from Boxing Day but only got them.

Just added the last tag from our tournament on the weekend to our club database and had a look at some statistics from the last 3 months.

Discounting fish tagged off Fraser Island in November, the SCGFC club has tagged 193 billfish for late November to early February. There were 37 tagged in January, 144 in December and 10 for late November. 34 of these fish were tagged off Noosa, 32 at what we call the 18mile baitfish grounds and 115 at the local 8 and 10 mile baitfish grounds. The rest were scattered from Cape Moreton to the Gold Coast. Out of this 19 were sailfish with only one blue I can think of with the rest being juvenile blacks and one black about 120kg. There have been a few 300+ers lurking around our local grounds too but not in the numbers of big blacks lurking on the Gold Coast grounds wide of the 36 fathom line.

The forecasts this week have allowed me to get back onto video editing. Finally did the MGFC Billfish Bash one I did on Andrew Earle's 40' Precision Reefhunter II.
