Hi Guys,
I'm looking for a tow/beach car as our second car and have worked my way down to a NL Paj. Trying to find an Escape for around the 10-12K mark.
Although I have had a 98 2.8TD GLX before, I am looking for petrol this time as there is not much to choose from in diesel and the car wont get a heap of use. I had been looking specifically for a manual V6 but there are fewer of these to chose from compared with autos.
I am familiar with the manual, but I do not have any experience with the auto for economy and towing. Anyone out there compared the two?
Thanks for your help.

good luck with getting one for that price in good nick. I have just been through the exact same exercise. Finished up with a 94 3l auto....for $10k. It is in mint condition though. I looked at 1 NL in your price range....and it was a total piece of rubbish. Mine gets between 13 - 14l/110km......doesnt change that much when towing. There are vehicles out there, but you have to be patient. (see my thread in the 4WD section).
Cheers

Either or although I might be a little old fashioned by preferring a manual for actual off road work. I find it is easier to negotiate steep descents with a manual. If you are using it to tow and do mostly bitumen work then I would say go the auto. Which ever way you go you will find great service in the Pajero so long as you are patient and find one in good condition in the first place. Good luck!

Cheers Guys
Looked at about 15 of them - seen some real shockers but also some good stuff out there albeit overpriced.
Found one (auto) for the right dollars and am getting it inspected this week. Let you know the outcome.
