I own a alphas r-edition and am using it on a shimano river raider at the moment and am quite happy with it so far. I am buying a pixy off a friend before christmas and was wondering what rod to use with it. Was thinking I would swap the river raider over to the pixy because of it's soft tip and get something a little bit stiffer for the alphas. I am after rods that hold a bit of value for money Not really looking to spend much over $250. Have seen the pflueger medalist 6'4" is very nice and so is the 2-4kg t-curve (not sure on any specifics saw it at that boating camping fishing place).
Any one have any advice on this? They are/will be almost solely used for bass

The pflueger medalist is an exceptional rod for the price, i bought one from MO tackle online for around the 100 mark on a weekend special but i believe a few shops locally have them around $150, Originally i they were around the $300 mark I think. I have a Daiwa fuego on mine running 6lb braid. Its certainly a great little stick that has landed me a few nice fish everything from big sweetlip to kingfish, so it will pull up even big bass no problems ;D .

Mates dad said some store down south (nsw way I think) had them for $40 :|. Pflueger distributor in aus sold all it's stock as they are stopping importing to aus which sucks.

not quite hairy, the brand has been bought by pure fishing(also owns abu garcia, berkley, shakespeare, etc). pretty sure they were just running them out to make way for new models. with so many brands on their books they could easily consolidate their range and not harm their market.
I've got the Medalist LDS 6'4" 2-4kg. they are a nice crisp rod and sensational value at the current prices. I've also got a river raider in the rack at home, good rod but there are better about for a pixy to live on.;D
