Gday there.
I'm lucky enough to organise a week off. So with the family and another family we are off to Fraser Island and will be staying at Orchid Beach.

Only 4 more sleeps to go! ;D 8-)

I have a few questions I was hoping someone could answer or advise.
1. is there much weed in the surf up there at the moment?
2. I am expecting flathead, whiting and dart in the surf, but are there any Tailor still hanging around? what else should I be targeting? maybe trevally of Waddi Pt?
3. Was wondering what sort of prices they are asking for petrol up there?:'(
reckon it should be better than the $2.15 litre we paid end of August.

Thanks
Brendan

Brendan,
Just got back from a week up there. Bloody fantastic !!!!

There is some weed at the moment, but it is in isolated clumps. There are plenty of gutters and holes that are weed free.
We didn't get any tailor but plenty of Dart and a whaler that went bollistick in the shore break.
ULP when I left was $1.62/L at Orchid.

Tracks are good inc Ngkala bypass tracks. But I would suggest if you go up the cape to have your passengers walk the track to save you getting bogged esp if there has been no rain.

Heath,
Thanks for the update.
I have been to Waddi 3 times in 4 years, and have never gone past NGALA Rocks.
The track was very bad in beginning Sept this year, we did not even try it. There was a stepup of about 1.2m, a lot of sand was taken away by the storms last December/January.
I would like to check it out this time.

Ngkala is a piece of cake at the moment. Flat as.
