So the price of metals has fallen out of its' arse..
Will we see the price of ally boats drop now back to what they used to be a few years ago?

mmmm?
most alloy suppliers are steady some have gone up 5% rent paint wages super
insurance etc havent come down maybe some people should try building a boat ???? not sticking up for anyone but business is difficult in manufacturing
quality trades people req a fair wage boat building is definetly not for every sheetie or boilermaker as some would think there are plenty of brands around from just like cars its up too the purchaser what he or she thinks suits

Just got notification that ally prices will rise again this month, so I don't know where the metal prices are falling. According to the LME there is likely to be more price rises in the near future due to some mines slowing down producion and reducing staff levels.

Probably, but not because of the price of materials.
With the economic downturn no-one seems to spending any money at the moment.
Boats are largely a luxury item and people are starting to unload them in droves and not many are buying new ones.
I am predicting there will be some really cheap boats available over the next 6 to 12 months if you are cashed up and ready to buy.
Cars are in the same boat, used car sales are already down 40% since the share market went south and they have cancelled next years Brisbane motor show and don't be surprised if the Boat show (the one at the convention centre) follows.
Plenty of tough times ahead I think for those in the boat industry.

I dont know where you are buying your ally from but in the last 4 years the only price rise in alloy plate we have been stung with is 5% in the last 6 months. Steel prices are going up and up compared to alluminium.
Like someone has already said the main thing is the going rate for boilies and sheet metal blokes these days. When it comes to building a boat the main expence is labour not the cost of the alluminium! That explains the reason why prices have not dropped at all.

A more important saving that is not been passed on is the reduction of interest rates.
The Reserve bank is trying to do the right thing but why, oh friggin' why, aren't the banks passing on the full drop in interest.
That'll be better then the $1000 handout I don't receive.
Bye from a very confused soul

The tip I understand is the first half of nextyear will tell all, many still have stock in warehouses or have already done purchase deals set before the popularising of the crunch....noticed that metal prices dropped yesterday again as did many of the industrial indicators in asia. The wave is building still, going to be a lot peakier now as a result of the the work being done by Gov world wide, still here we deserved much more as a result of last our governance.
