Went to Borumba and chanced the weather and it came up trumphs with no wind and fine day.

Ventured up the two arms and noticed the water was very dirty from the run off rain. The target for the day was Saratoga so was hoping that the breeding season had finished, because as you know, they are very fussy and shy when trying to present a fly or lure in front of them.

Anyway, I did manage a few good bass with the largest measuring 45cm to the inside fork, with the weapons of choice being spinnerbait and purple TN60.

I ventured up a small bay/creek and found the water being crystle clear with schools od Boney Bream, so maybe it is spawning season for them? There was plenty of lantana in the water with plenty of Togas cruising their patch. I started off with a home made Muddler type fly where I hooked up but lost a few, so I changed over to a Mea bass Anthrax lure and hit one right on the nose where it took it as it hit the water. Got a solid hook up and landed a healthy 81cm specimen. I disrupted a few more with no more fish but left with a sense of satisfaction.

The downfall to the day was 1. losing my favourite purple TN60 and snapping the end of my new rod (never mind!)

I will try to download pictures soon and post them for you all.

Can't wait till my next day on the water...

81 is a solid toga. Did you happen to notice how much water is running in the creek beneath the dam wall and what colour it was?

Sounds like you had a pretty good day. Always expect to lose your best lure. Did you get the bass casting to the banks or trolling. Must get out there for a day next week. 45cm bass are worth the trip - and a lure or two.

Thanks fellas,

Sorry, didnt take the time out to check the water going over the dam.

The Bass were caught by casting to the banks and the togas where sighted mostly up close the banks also.

Good luc if you plan on going up that way and send us a PM on how you went.
