Looking for help on buying a quality soft plastic rod that will nicely double as a spin rod. Are Egrell rod's suited for high retrieve spinning as much as they are a soft plastic rod? And if so would anyone recommend the S10 or Bear S10?

S10 are perfect for Spinning and Plastics, more suited to deeper water plastics IMO as they are suited to a 3500 + Size reel
The S10H is a ballsier version of the S10, S10 having a lighter tip

thanks. I had an S10 in my hands the other day and it is probably the nicest rod I have held. Was just a bit worried about the light tip for spinning metals with a quick retrieve. I have a Daiwa Caldia Kix 4000 ready to match the new rod.

Mate I have the Bear S10 with a Twin Power 4000 and caught a couple of Mac Tunas on metals first time out, was great fun. Casts a mile lots of feel etc.
Everybody has different opinions though and I'm sure they are on there way.
If you like it, it feels good to you, go for it mate.

The 4000 size reels feel great on the rods.
Some use the top of the line 3500, but the 4000 was the go for me.

Do a search for S10 on hear and you will get a couple of long nights of reading on the suject.

Cheers.

Don't over look the Nitro distance Spin Mag Butt , it a little bit longer at 7'6. Can throw slugs a mile with plenty of power at the business end.

ANother one is the Rapala Braid concept rod, 10-20kg i use it for snapper with plastic and also spun up Mackrel last week end with no problem at all. Not a bad price either at around the $250 mark

Don't forget there are the two series of rods by Eric - The blue Egrell is a higher modulas with an awesome taper. They do not do the S10H in that series, but it is truly an awesome rod. The other is the Bear series which due to the series of graphite does feel that bit softer ( not quite as fast a recovery ) but a top rod all the same. The best advice is to put them in your hands and see which way you want to go.

Went to the Tackle Warehouse today and settled on an Egrell S10. Have matched it with a Sol 4000, the reel is bigger in size than other 4000 size reels but it feels great on the rod.

Cannot wat to put them to the test.
