Hi all just thought i would throw this one out there
I was going through some old boxes in the shed from my last house move and found some old harboard tackle supplies books from the 80`s along with some floppy lures , tiny tads and stuff i forgot that i even had anymore .
The harboard catalog was interesting reading to look at some of the gear that has not been seen for years brought back some memories for me it was good to remember those old fishing days 8-) .
I dont know what made me post this thread :-/ but i am interested to see if anyone has found some old goodies in the shed that they forgot they had ?

Hey mate i went to the in laws shed the other day and found 2x bamboo /split cane rods hanging on the wall. I’d say they had been there a while coz they were doing a very convincing impersonation of horseshoes.
Anyway we got talking about the oldies and then he brings out the old glass rod that his father’s built for him when he was boy -in perfect condition. The stories started flowing about where he’d been and what he’d caught with it.
That’s what prompted that whole “what’s your favourite rod and why?” thread.
And don’t even get me started on the alvey’s - he must have had 2 dozen in there.
ARRRRRGH treasure in the shed....

Hi Guys,
As a private Collector of Old Fishing Reels and Magazines please , please, please remember me ::) ,;D ,:D .
But seriously over the years most of my collection has come from old sheds where reels and rods have been left to gather dust. I shed a tear for all the gear that went from the shed to the landfill because no one thought it was any good.
Every time I am out driving and see an old shed I wonder!!!!!!!!!!.

Hey Malcolm1976,
The Harbord catalog of 1990 is probably one you are thinking of.
Two very young female fisher (persons) dressed in suitable attire for a big sesssion on the water.
Oh, some good tackle items also.

Hey Mono,
Would you be interested in parting with a Heddons Tiny Tad? They are my dad's go-to perch lure but sadly he's only got one left and isn't keen to cast it any more. Seems I am otherwise destined to wait till I inherit it to have a cast with that one.
Cheers Roo.

Definitely Harboard tackle, main competition n those days was Bluefin Sports at Hurstville, and Mo Tackle in Coffs Harbour. While Fishing Around in Liverpool (my store) tried hard, and Campbelltown Fishing Scene offered some competition.
Only Mo Tackle and Campbelltown Fishing Scene still exist in any major form. (though under different names)

I recon there is treasure in them there sheds,
I recon old books and magasines have some great information and stories too.
Lots of the old books spoke about methods and tecniques without any specific tilt toward a branded product.... these days its all about whatever the author has a product deal with.
And some of the article structures..........how long is it since we have seen a proper photo essay.....how many would know what one was.
I don't care if it is fishing or anything else....old books and mags are great.
Then there are the goodies.
I recon it would be interesting to see how some of the old lures and the early soft lures compared to the modern stuff with the fancy brand names and celebrity endorsements.
cheers
