hey
recently caught my first fish on plastics. I wouldnt mind to do a bit more lure fishing, ill be using a 2-4kg berkley dropshot with a 2000 daiwa exceller reel .
i will mainly targetting estuary species ( bream, flathead, trevally and whiting), i have had a look through some other posts but need some more info.
I have a couple of questions

1. What coulour

2. What style (eg. minnows)

3. What size jigheads

cheers

hey mate thats a killer outfit for starting of i had the exact same rod and reel been going hard for a few years now.
i mainly use hard body lures like ecogear sx40's or jackal chubbies they work fine on the bream and flathead you need to find a spot that you know hold fish and then throw all different sorts of lures and them and see witch one they like the most its all about the place you fish you need to imitate the baitfish in the area as good as you can and you will catch heaps remember for flathead you need to have your lure hitting the bottom or you wont get them and for bream you need to use a very slow repreave they dont like chasing fast lures.

I love the SPs, Especially 4" power bait minnows!! Favourite colours would be the casper clear and prl watermelon. Stick these on 3/0 TT jigheads with the lightest possible weight and your away, fits nicely. I find these to be extremely effective on everything.

1. Colour I like pumkinseed as a starter. I also like the natural colours.

2. Style I use mostly grub tails in 3inch or shad also in 3inch

3. Wieght go as light as you can to hit the bottom. from memory 1/8oz is a good starter.

Dont just stick to one thing mix it up so if the fish arent hitting your lure try a different colour, jighead or style. Once you find what the fish want stick with it. 90% of the time it varies with every trip.
