While I was attending the Mooloolaba RRFF snapper workshop last week my mate Frank went up to Rainbow Beach for a couple of days out on charter boat "Baitrunner" he caught some nice snapper to 5kg and a 15kg cobia landed on a borrowed 2-6kg Saratoga rod, 20lb line with a cheep $20 spinning reel. The cobia took 1hour and 15minutes to land.
Frank said that the rod was awesome but the reel sounded stuffed after the fight.
He has an order in for the rod but not the reel.

Pic attached.

Cheers
Barry

Just goes to show that you probably don't need the other 8 ball bearings to catch fish;) ;D
A top effort on light gear

Frank was fishing inside DI in 40 metres for Grassies (got a few of them) as the current was roaring outside and he was using long strips of mullet on a snood rig.

Cheers
